Blackhawk Painting, Inc. provided surface preparation and painting with a high performance anti-graffiti coating system on a variety of surfaces, including a complex steel canopy structure, masonry walls, benches and a concrete stairwell at the elevated Richmond Amtrak Station platform in Richmond, CA.
Problem
The elevated Richmond Amtrak Station platform in Richmond, CA was in need of an update due to its appearance. Platform masonry walls were cracked, stained and weather worn. The steel canopy was in need of cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.
One challenge would be that the station would need to be in service during maintenance.
Train Platform Solution
Blackhawk Painting, Inc. started with low-pressure washing and then cleaned with biodegradable alkaline water-based cleaning solution using hand & power tools.
Cleaned and prepared the rusted areas and applied rust stabilization with a penetrating epoxy sealer. Provided an upgraded non-sacrificial anti-graffiti coating system that will provide additional durability and function.
Our team worked during the weekday and around normal train schedules while using traffic delineators and different types of barricades to control foot traffic for the public and teams’ safety. There was no down time for our client or the public.
